Biography of a House - Part 2: American Youth Hostel Memories and Song

A house has many stories, just as people do. The house at 88 Main Street, built in 1807, is gone now but the people who lived there and the things they accomplished live on. This is the second event in a three-event series celebrating the rich history of 88 Main Street.

Jonathan Smith, son of the founders of the youth hostel movement in the U.S., will speak about his parents Isabel and Monroe Smith and his years living in Northfield from 1941-1952. Jonathan will remember Northfield and its people, his horses, and the youth hostel begun here in 1934. See artifacts and momentos from the historic 88 Main Street hostel, and enjoy American music with voice, banjo and guitar performed by Annie Patterson and Peter Blood.
