Our Goal: To understand and honor the past, enjoy the present, and look forward to the future.

Celebrate Northfield With Us!
In 2023, Northfield Massachusetts will mark its historic beginning in 1673 after centuries of settlement by Native people, including the Sokoki of the Western Abenaki. Our 350th Anniversary theme,Reconnecting Northfield, is inspired by the beautiful Connecticut River (Kwenitekw in Abenaki) which runs through our town. Northfield is more than spectacular geography. For generations, its people have had a significant impact on our community, our region and even the world!
After over two years of planning, a festive year-long celebration is ready! It will be a celebration worthy of the special home we call Northfield. Throughout the year town folk and visitors will enjoy a wide variety of entertaining events, history and children's programs, a symphony performance, grand parade and a spectacular fireworks display! A variety of 350th commemoration memorabilia will be offered at most events and throughout the year.
Please take a moment to browse this website. View the schedule of events and activities, note the many generous sponsors and donors, gallery of photos, and more.
Welcome to 2023 - Northfield's 350th Year!
Tree 50th Project!
Saturday November 4 the "Tree50th" Project continued work to add fifty shade and ornamental trees along Main Street as a "gift to the future" in honor of our 350th anniversary. Seven trees were planted in June; another 20 will go in in November, and the remaining trees will be placed in the spring of 2024. Led by a team of five members of the Northfield Garden Club, the project has obtained recommendations from a forester from the Community Forestry Program of the Dept of Conservation and Recreation, applied for a planting permit from MADOT, worked with local nursery Sugarloaf, knocked on doors of homeowners along Main Street and organized a group of volunteers to handle planting, watering and caring for the trees.
If you would like to support this effort, please send your donation to: Tree50th Project, Northfield Town Hall, 69 Main Street, Northfield, MA 01360, or access the donor link here.
Invitations to volunteer will be posted on this website, Next Door, and town information sites. We are hoping this gift to the town will have lasting benefits far into the future.
